The Trident Deception Begins with a False Nuclear Launch Order

Campbell’s debut uses the feature that makes ballistic-missile submarines uniquely frightening: a properly authenticated order can lead a hidden submarine to launch enough nuclear weapons to destroy a country.

An escape pod crashes nearby carrying two bodies and a silvery medallion. After Nola touches the object, an Imperial strike force begins pursuing her and the Empress orders that she be taken alive.

A Nexus prescient missing for seventeen years also appears, suggesting Nola is connected with ancient powers and bloodlines she has never understood.
